Privacy & Policy

PetBux Affiliate Marketplace — Effective Date: April 7, 2026 · Last Updated: September 1, 2026

By using PetBux, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

PetBux Inc., a Delaware corporation ("PetBux," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the PetBux cashback affiliate marketplace, including the PetBux website, browser extension, and related services (the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to visitors to petbux.com, PetBux members, and users of the PetBux browser extension.

The Service is intended for United States residents aged 18 and over.

1. Summary

  • We collect the information you give us, information collected automatically as you use the Service, and information our affiliate network partners send us about your purchases.
  • We use it to run the cashback programme, pay you, prevent fraud, communicate with you, and market the Service.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do share limited information with advertising platforms for advertising purposes, including hashed contact details used to measure and improve our advertising. Under California law this is treated as "sharing," and you have the right to opt out. See Sections 6 and 10.
  • You can control cookies, opt out of marketing and sponsored messages, disable the extension, and request access to or deletion of your information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, password
  • Payout information: PayPal address, Venmo handle, or gift card delivery email
  • Communications: the content of messages you send us, including support requests and missing cashback claims
  • Optional profile information: any additional details you choose to provide

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and connection data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type and version, language settings
  • Usage data: pages viewed, links clicked, brand pages visited, searches performed, time and duration of visits, referring website
  • Cashback activity: clicks on affiliate links, the merchant and brand associated with each click, and identifiers used to attribute a purchase to your account

2.3 Information from the browser extension

Where you install the PetBux browser extension, it collects:

  • The web address of pages you visit, in order to determine whether the site is a participating retailer
  • On participating retailer checkout pages, order information such as the cart total, and the contents of the discount or coupon field

The extension does not read pages on non-participating sites beyond checking the web address, and does not collect the contents of forms, payment details, or passwords. See Section 5.

2.4 Information from third parties

  • Affiliate networks (Impact, Awin, Ascend, ShareASale and others) send us transaction records including order value, merchant, date, commission amount, product or category information where available, and the status of each transaction
  • Payment processors confirm whether a payout succeeded or failed
  • Advertising platforms may provide aggregated measurement and audience information
  • Fraud prevention providers may provide risk signals

3. Categories of Personal Information (California Disclosure)

In the twelve months preceding the date of this policy, we have collected the following categories of personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act:

| Category | Examples | Collected | | --- | --- | --- | | Identifiers | Name, email address, IP address, account ID | Yes | | Customer records | Payout account details | Yes | | Commercial information | Purchases made through the Service, cashback earned, brands shopped | Yes | | Internet or network activity | Browsing and click activity on the Service and on participating retailer sites via the extension | Yes | | Geolocation data | Approximate location derived from IP address | Yes | | Inferences | Preferences and interests drawn from your shopping activity, used to select relevant offers | Yes | | Sensitive personal information | Account log-in credentials | Yes | | Biometric information | — | No | | Protected classification characteristics | — | No | | Audio, electronic, visual information | — | No | | Professional or education information | — | No |

We use log-in credentials only to authenticate you and secure your account. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit under California law.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and administer your account
  • Track your purchases and calculate, credit, and pay your cashback
  • Process referral rewards
  • Display cashback rates, discount codes, and offers, including offers relevant to the brands and categories you shop
  • Send transactional messages such as purchase notifications, cashback confirmations, and payout confirmations
  • Send marketing and sponsored messages, where you have not opted out
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and breaches of our Terms
  • Measure and improve our advertising, including understanding which advertising leads to sign-ups and purchases
  • Analyse and improve the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements

5. The Browser Extension

The extension exists to activate cashback and find working discount codes while you shop.

How it works. The extension checks the web address of the page you are on against our list of participating retailers. Where there is a match, it may show you the available cashback rate and let you activate it. On a participating retailer's checkout page, it may read the order total and automatically test available discount codes in the coupon field.

What it does not do. The extension does not collect the contents of forms other than the discount field, payment card details, passwords, or the content of pages on non-participating sites. It writes only into the retailer's discount or coupon field.

Your control. Automatic code application can be turned off in the extension settings. You can disable or remove the extension at any time through your browser. Removing it does not delete cashback already earned or your PetBux account.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information for money.

We share personal information in the following circumstances.

6.1 Affiliate networks and participating retailers

We share a unique, non-identifying tracking identifier with affiliate networks so your purchase can be attributed to your account. Networks and retailers return transaction data to us.

Retailers and networks do not receive your name, email address, or payout details from us as part of this process.

Networks currently used: Impact, Awin, Ascend, ShareASale, and other approved networks.

6.2 Advertising platforms

We advertise the Service on platforms including Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and we have advertised on TikTok. To measure whether our advertising works and to reach people likely to be interested in PetBux, we share limited information with these platforms:

  • Hashed contact information. Email addresses and, where held, phone numbers, converted into an irreversible hashed form before transmission. Hashing means the platform cannot read the original address, but can match it against its own records
  • Conversion events. That a sign-up or a purchase occurred, the value associated with it, and an identifier linking it to an advertising click
  • Audience seeding. Lists of customers who have made a purchase, in hashed form, used to help the platform find similar audiences

This is "sharing" under California law. We do not receive money for it, but because it supports cross-context behavioural advertising, California residents have the right to opt out. See Section 10.

We also use analytics and advertising cookies and pixels on our website, described in Section 7.

6.3 Sponsored messages

We may send email messages sponsored by participating brands. Which sponsored messages you receive may be informed by your purchase history with PetBux.

The sponsoring brand does not receive your email address, name, or purchase history from us. We send the message; the brand supplies the content and pays for the placement. Sponsored messages are clearly identified as sponsored.

You can opt out of sponsored messages separately from other marketing. See Section 9.

6.4 Service providers

We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, under contracts requiring them to protect it and use it only for those services. These include hosting and infrastructure, email delivery, payment and payout processing, analytics, customer support, and fraud prevention.

6.5 Legal and business transfers

We may disclose information where required by law, subpoena, or legal process; to protect our rights, property, or safety, or those of our users or the public; to investigate fraud; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, where the recipient will be bound by this policy or give notice of any change.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, tracking links, local storage, and similar technologies to:

  • Operate the Service. Keep you logged in and remember your settings. These are strictly necessary
  • Attribute purchases. First-party and affiliate-network cookies record that you clicked through from PetBux, so your cashback can be credited. Blocking these cookies will prevent cashback from tracking
  • Analyse usage. Understand how people use the Service so we can improve it
  • Advertise. Measure the performance of our advertising and show relevant ads. This includes the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies will affect cashback tracking and may prevent the Service working as intended.

Where we detect a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, as required under California law.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is open, and afterwards only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy.

  • Account and cashback records: for the life of the account, and for up to 7 years after closure where needed for tax, accounting, and dispute resolution
  • Transaction and payout records: up to 7 years, to meet financial record-keeping obligations
  • Marketing preferences and suppression records: retained indefinitely, so that an unsubscribe request continues to be honoured
  • Technical logs: typically up to 24 months
  • Fraud investigation records: as long as necessary to prevent recurrence

Where information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

9. Your Communication Choices

Transactional messages relating to your account, cashback, and payouts are part of the Service and cannot be unsubscribed from while your account is open.

Marketing messages can be turned off using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or in your account settings. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages.

Sponsored messages can be turned off separately in your account settings, without unsubscribing from other marketing.

10. Your Privacy Rights

10.1 Rights available to you

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and share, and the categories of sources and recipients
  • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions
  • Opt out of sharing your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny you the Service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right

10.2 How to exercise them

Email support@petbux.com with the subject line "Privacy Request," or use the tools in your account settings.

We will verify your identity before acting on a request, normally by confirming you control the email address on the account. We will respond within 45 days, and may extend by a further 45 days where necessary, telling you if we do.

An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission from you, which we may ask you to confirm directly.

10.3 Opting out of advertising sharing

To opt out of the sharing described in Section 6.2:

  • Use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of petbux.com; or
  • Enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honour automatically; or
  • Email support@petbux.com with the subject line "Opt Out of Sharing"

Opting out does not affect your cashback, your account, or the transactional messages you receive.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and multi-factor authentication on systems holding member data. Passwords are stored in hashed form and are not readable by us.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@petbux.com immediately.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact support@petbux.com.

13. Third-Party Sites

The Service links to retailer and brand websites we do not control. Once you leave PetBux, this policy no longer applies. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Where a change is material, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the Service before it takes effect.

The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when this policy was last revised.
